ALMATEC Maschinenbau GmbH is one of the world's leading manufacturers of pneumatic diaphragm pumps.

Production began in 1984 and is based on decades of experience in the pump sector. Numerous trend-setting developments resulted and the product range diversified to provide solutions to a whole variety of problems far beyond Germany's borders.

Since the company was founded, it has produced some 120,000 pumps and delivered these to customers around the world. Today, ALMATEC owns numerous patents and has one of the largest ranges in the field of pneumatic diaphragm pumps.

Thereby ALMATEC has a current product portfolio, which covers a wide range of possible pump applications.

The E-Series represents the latest generation of plastic air-operated double diaphragm pumps made in solid design. Compared to the predecessor A-Series the following advantages are especially to mention:

  • Further increased pump safety due to innovative ring-tightening structure
  • Increased capacity
  • Decreased air consumption
  • Reduced noise level
  • Optimized flow pattern
  • Pulsation damper suitable for flange connection

As common, the housing parts are tightened to each other via housing bolts. However, instead of single bolts pressing punctually against the housing, all housing bolts are now tightened against a diaphragm-sized ring per side. This structure results in a more even spreading the housing bolt force and in an increased permissible bolt torque - in the end an increased pump safety which is assisted by further improvements of construction details.

The flow resistance is reduced via an optimised flow pattern to increase the efficiency factor of the pump. Compared to the A-Series, the same air flow achieves a higher fluid flow, respectively less air flow is required from the same fluid flow.

The pulsation damper can still be used an integrated model on top of the pump. However, an additional version with flange connection is available.

For the E-Series pumps are different materials available:

  • Housing: PE, PE conductive, PTFE, PTFE conductive
  • Diaphragms: EPDM, PTFE/EPDM, NBR
  • Ball valves: EPDM, PTFE, NBR, stainless steel
  • Cylinder valves: PTFE

E-Series pumps made of PE conductive and PTFE conductive meet the ATEX requirements of the directive 94/9/EG.

The seven pump sizes (the 3“ pump E80 is new) achieve the following max capacities:

  • 0,9 m³/h, 15 l/min, 4 gpm (E08)
  • 1,4 m³/h, 23 l/min, 6 gpm (E10)
  • 3,4 m³/h, 55 l/min, 15 gpm (E15)
  • 8 m³/h, 130 l/min, 35 gpm (E25)
  • 20 m³/h, 330 l/min, 88 gpm (E40)
  • 36 m³/h, 600 l/min, 160 gpm (E50)
  • 48 m³/h, 800 l/min, 210 gpm (E80)

The features of the E-Series at a glance:

  • Air-operated diaphragm pumps in solid design
  • Housing made of PE or PTFE, both also available in a conductive version
  • Interchangeability to the A-Series
  • Seven sizes from DN 8 to DN 80
  • Max. capacities of 0.9 to 48 m³/h
  • Increased pump security due to innovative ring-tightening structure
  • Compared to the A-Series, increased capacity and decreased air consumption thanks to the optimized flow pattern, decreased noise level
  • ATEX conformity
  • Exterior free of metal
  • Optimized diaphragm fixing
  • Different possible port configurations
  • Ball or cylinder check valves with identical interior design
  • Maintenance and lubrication-free air control system PERSWING P® without dead center
  • Composite diaphragms with integrated metal core, no diaphragm discs
  • Proof against dry running and overloading, self-priming, insensitive to solids
  • Gentle displacement
  • Can be infinitely controlled via the air volume
  • No drives, no rotating parts, no shaft seals
  • Unattended operation with long service life
  • Easy to start up
  • Integrated muffler
  • Recessed tie rods
  • Vibration dampers with female thread on the underside for simple direct installation
  • Low noise levels
  • Optional features meeting requirements; screw on or flanged pulsation dampe, back flushing system, barrier chamber system, diaphragm monitor, stroke counter, flange connection, transport cart

The ALMATEC pump series BIOCOR is especially designed for sterile applications within the pharmaceutical, biotechnical and food industry. The air-operated diaphragm pumps are EHEDG certificated and ATEX conform according to 94/9/EG directive. BIOCOR pumps with a material combination of PTFE (diaphragms, ball valves, O-rings) equipped with a diaphragm monitoring are 3-A approved. The special design with the integrated cleaning-system enables the CIP (clean in place) and SIP (sterilization in place) capability.

Always a demand for sterile applications: all housing parts of the BIOCOR pumps show no horizontal areas. Each pump comes with four ball lifting magnets, which can be attached to the pump housing from the outside at the location of the four ball valves. The ball valves are risen up magnetically out of their seats and the pump is drained entirely without having to be dismounted. There are no mechanical ball lifters with parts and seals in the wetted area.

The two pump sizes B 20 and B 32 achieve max. capacities of 3.5 and 7.5 m³/h resp. a max. discharge pressure up to 7 bar The material for the wetted housing parts is electro polished SS 316 L (1.4435, according to Basel Standard II, ferrite content < 1%) with a surface roughness of < 0.4 µm. The center block is made of polyethylene conductive.
